Metabolism Test: Content, Guide and General Information

Metabolism Test Information

Content and guidance

Our TSH lightning test is simple and convenient to use. You just have to take a little blood test from your fingertip, which only takes a moment. Then apply the test on the test cassette, wait for the result, and within a short time you will get an accurate indication of your TSH levels.

Frequently asked questions:

1. How does the TSH test work?

Thyroid stimulating hormone activates the thyroid gland. Therefore, a TSH concentration on over 5µU/ml in case of positive result is an indication of an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) that needs more TSH.

2. When should the test be taken?

In case of symptoms of hypothyroidism such as fatigue, depression, cold cutting, weight gain, dry skin, dry and frayed hair, persistent constipation or irregular menstruation in women, it is recommended to take a TSH RAPID test for screening purposes. TSH RAPID tests can be taken at any time during the day, but it should and cannot be used in the case of hormonal treatment of the thyroid gland.

3. Can the result be wrong?

The result is reliable as long as the instructions are closely followed. However, the result may be incorrect if the TSH Rapid cassette is wet before the test is performed if the amount of blood that is inserted into the sample hole is too small or if the number of puff drops added is less than 2 or greater than 3. The capillary tube, which is included in the package allows you to collect a correct amount of blood. Due to the immunological principles used, there is a risk of incorrect results in some cases. It is recommended to go to a doctor to get tests on immunological principles.

4. How should the test be interpreted if the colors and intensities of the lines are different?

The color and intensity of the lines have no bearing on the interpretation of the result. The lines should be homogeneous and clear. The test is interpreted as positive regardless of the color and intensity of the line.

5. Will the result be reliable if I read it after 20 minutes?

No. The result must be read 10 minutes after the liquid is added. The result is unreliable after 20 minutes.

6. What do I do if the result is positive?

A positive result means that the concentration of TSH in the blood is higher than the normal (5μiu/ml) and that you should contact your doctor to discuss the test result. Your doctor will then decide whether additional tests should be performed.

7. What do I do if the result is negative?

A negative result means that the concentration of TSH is lower than 5μiu/ml and is thus within the normal area. Despite being rare, a case of hypothyroidism cannot be excluded from such a result. If your symptoms continue, contact your doctor.

What does the TSH level indicate?

'Metabolism' refers to the chemical processes that unfold in the body for the purpose of maintaining life and energy levels. This involves the transformation of nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats and proteins, for energy, as well as construction and degradation of cells and tissues.

The metabolism is regulated by hormones, which occurs in various organs such as thyroid gland, liver and muscles. It plays a crucial role in maintaining the body's vital functions, including the regulation of body temperature, controlling weight, and supporting organ functions, so it should not be too high or low.
