Intended use and application

BIOSYNEX Legionella pneumophila BSS is a lateral flow rapid test for the qualitative detection of L. pneumophila antigen in urine samples. It is designed for rapid investigation of suspected Legionnaires’ disease, where early diagnosis supports targeted antibiotic treatment and can reduce mortality. The result is read visually after 15 minutes.

Performance and reliability

Compared with another commercial test, a sensitivity > 99.9% and specificity > 99.9% have been reported. In vitro diagnostic – follow the instructions for use carefully.

Sample type and procedure

Sample type: urine. Read at 15 minutes. Simplified procedure: transfer 3 drops of urine to the sample well (S) using the supplied pipette, and read at 15 min. See IFU for the complete procedure.
