Purpose and clinical value

BIOSYNEX COMBO COVID-FLU-RSV BSS enables simultaneous detection and differentiation of three common causes of seasonal respiratory symptoms: SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A/B and RSV. With a single sample, clinicians can quickly determine the likely etiology and initiate appropriate infection control and treatment measures, including special precautions for RSV in children. Turnaround time: approx. 10 minutes. 

Sample type, kit and storage

Sample type: nasopharyngeal swab. The kit contains 25 tests and everything needed to perform them (sterile swabs, prefilled extraction tubes and dropper caps), and is stored at 2–30 °C. Manufacturer: BIOSYNEX Swiss S.A. (Switzerland). The series also includes COMBO COVID-FLU BSS (duplex) as well as single-parameter tests INFLUENZATOP BSS, RSVTOP BSS and Strep A. 

When is the test most useful?

During the winter season, in clusters of respiratory symptoms, in pediatric populations with suspected RSV, and in triage settings where rapid clarification shortens isolation time and optimizes patient flow. The product is an in vitro diagnostic device; see IFU for use and limitations.
